As a matter of routine now, we will use weekends to fly non-standard aircraft - In other words we'll be running Korean war, WW2 and any other period you would like to suggest.
So dust off your Pilot's notes, and be ready for some interesting dog fighting.
Details will be published in the Next Online Sortie section.

Re: Weekend Missions
Great!
Weekend = Friday to Monday right?
I had good fun flying ground attack missions in the Saber during the weekend.
I think it's a great training platform for the basic visual AG-Attack, good practise on communication/landmarks/navigation e.t.c. as there's no TAD/TGP to fall back on.
2vs1 fur-ball up in the contrails with Teddy in a Saber v.s. a player Mig15 was the highlight of the weekend thou. (everybody lived to fight another day, altho I had the most holes in me at the end).
At some point we had a mission running with no-fly zone's for different aircraft?
Any idea how tricky that is to set up?
In a prefect world all our missions running on the server should have a dedicated AO, for at least A10C & Hawk, range+tanker+circuit training.
As long as the F10 is locked down and Externals are locked it should not have any impact on immersion.
I don't suppose theres a way to copy&paste / merge .miz files?

Re: Weekend Missions
Yep, if there is the demand for it, we can run the missions from Friday night on, as long as that is what everyone wishes.
The no fly zones were set up by Jim, but it was simply done using trigger zones. The code for that will be viewable in the relevant mission, so if you want to have a copy to play with, just let me know and I can send it to you.
Rather than copy/paste, it should be simple enough to adapt existing missions. Just do a save as, and then use that copy to change anything and everything. There is even a utility now which can be downloaded to change alliances after a mission has been created.
It would be useful for everyone flying these earlier period missions to download the Viet Nam, Korean and WW2 static units and vehicles, the desert, and jungle scenery mods too. That way, mission designers can really create the right atmosphere.

So the weekend is around the corner.
Any plans?
I know Neil has been pimping his P51 all week long.
You wanna share your selection of mods?

Re: Weekend Missions
Okay, here are some links for you....
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/347239/
That's a great skin pack with some cool RAF liveries.
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1101079/
Mip Mapped cockpit textures, with improved gauges - the green arc matches max cruise for both pitch and manifold pressure.
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1089159/
A realistic scream sound that you can hear at some flight configurations
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/303917/
Updates the HOTAS controls for the Warthog - works very well I find
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/303916/
This is an X52 profile, I haven't tried it personally, but might be worth a punt.
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/1286227/
Updated sounds. Makes the Packard Merlin sound more Packard Merlin
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/792884/
This one makes the start up sounds more interesting
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/599394/
Changes the gun sounds
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/214768/
A good set of check lists for those of you who want to go that extra mile
I have all these (except the X52 profile of course) installed. I'd definitely recommend the skin pack, as I want to use them in a lot of missions in the future. I have merged a few of the files together, so there is less to keep moving in and out when I do an update.
Oh and finally, there is a very useful change to the throttle curve, that will give better low power settings - especially useful for taxiing and landing:
Using the custom curve, set the throttle curve to: 0-22-39-56-66-73-79--82-87-93-100

Re: Weekend Missions
Very nice
The scream gives a conflict with the packard sounds according to my JSGME.
Can you confirm they work on top of each other?
Best /D

Re: Weekend Missions
Yes, what I have done is merged the two. Put the scream file into the Packard Merlin one, and then you have less to load and unload too.
The scream file just replaces the original, and works fine.
