Tues 30th Nov - Nalchik Strike Re-Run?

Post by 309 Geoff »

Paul,
I'm happy to re-run last Tuesdays flight, if required. I don't think we have anything else planned.
I've made a couple of changes. I will T/O 3min30secs before No2 releases brakes.
If you agree, could you reserve Server 1 again please. I will also post a revised miz if we fly.
I fully understand if you have other plans in mind, and do not want to do Nalchik Strike again.
Standing by.

Paul,
Glad we can fly it again. I've seen your request for server 1. Once I've updated the miz, I'll repost for all to see, and for you to add to the server.
Flight line up the same as last week. Landing at Vaziani will be different, with all the flight returning safely.

Paul,
Here is the revised miz for Tuesday 30th. Please add to server 1.

I have made a few changes to last week, namely:-
1. Boar 1 T/O is 3mins30sec, before Boar 2.
2. Tunguska has been moved away from other radar units.
3. Fuel state for all aircraft has been lowered by 500lbs. I was tempted to lower it by 1500lbs.
4. Two passes each, over the target area are authorised, if required. After weapon release, left hand circuit onto a reciprocal heading back towards IP. Consider re-arming, and adding 500lbs of weapons.
5. A sound file has been added to confirm Tunguska has been destroyed.

I hope to make it to this sortie. Still trying to resolve some tech problems within my set-up, but I seem to be gradually battering them back into place.

My system should be OK for this evening.

However, having had problems releasing the bombs on the last sortie, I have set up a test run, with the same results.

Basically, the steering bar on the CCRP run is consistently to the left of the target, until I get very close when it moves rapidly to the left. As a result I am outside the 5 mil limit and the drop is aborted.

I have attached 3 HUD views at 20 secs, 10 secs and 6 secs, and the incorrect line up to the left can be seen until about 6-7 secs when the bomb fall line move sharply to the left and I can't catch it. As a result the release is aborted.

Can anyone suggest a reason for this? Otherwise I am going to have to drop in CCIP.

Thanks Richard; that is what I currently plan to do. However, I cannot understand why the CCRP is not working.

A pleasant day out! Again my weapons system (or possibly me) played up. Sorry to have missed the frequency call to Vaz Tower. But it highlights the need to get positive check-in after every change - I should have noticed the loud silence!

I suspect that the Su fighters' damage was difficult to analyse because they were set up as 'objects' rather than 'aircraft'. As a consequence we got no notification of how many we destroyed, and even the Tacview recording didn't show them, nor give results.

The sortie highlighted a number of training points, which I will try and lay out over the next few days. A lot of them will be hobby-horses of mine, but we can argue over them at leisure. While not a "fast-jet man", I did spend 2 and a bit tours leading JP formations at 240-300 kias low level. Much of the procedures we used in the JP are relevant to the A-10 and the operating speeds were very similar. I will also try and write-up an outline low-level formation scenario for us to discuss. Not exactly SOPs but rather a series of do's, dont's, and a few tips to make life easier.
