Yea, hopefully when I get back, I will be able to get fibre fitted at last.

Geoff, my brief is attached for your consideration.

I will plan to fly as No 3 (Second Section Lead). Thus feel free to make any changes you think necessary to the mission and the attached brief. I have included the MS Word and the PDF version.

I normally like to put a brief away for 24 hrs before re-reading (and usually correcting!) it - as one of my previous bosses in Mod was wont to say - "Alan, let's leave it to mature for a while and go and have a beer". Hence, please feel free to adjust as you see fit - I am not easily offended, and, as an ex-staff officer, am used to having my carefully crafted and honed masterpieces butchered.

Geoff, I have re-read my brief and have realised that I omitted to specify individual Laser Codes. I will, leave you to remedy that. I have spotted no other obvious errors.

Alan,
I've downloaded the doc version. Will read in the next hour, sleep on it, and amend if required.

Leave the laser codes to me.

I'll forward your miz to Matt tomorrow. I'll just check the heights for the targets are correct.

Flew it this afternoon. Worked well. Clouds were interesting. Couldn't keep exactly to your FP, so set up a new attack heading which allowed a clear run to targets without clouds getting in the way.

Just three changes made, namely,
1. WP height for landing at Vaz, changed from +5000ft, to runway height.
2. Radio frequency on start-up changed from 251 to 269. (Vaz ATC).
3. Flares increased from 120 to 240.

Thank you for your endeavours. Enjoy your next 3 days.

Point noted re clouds. Unfortunately, they are not the same every time. Have you amended the run in track significantly?

Geoff, just found a spare hour to fly the mission. Didn't see any significant changes. As you say the cloud on the Southern Battery is a bugger. However, by manoeuvring and descending I did manage to hit the first 3, by which time I was at about 3 nm range and 7000ft. If I remain a singleton, I suspect I will have to do 2 runs - but that is not a problem. Timing was also a little bit off, but nothing alarming - I was 50 seconds after my planned TOT.

It does look as though the Maverick can see through this thin cloud, once you are locked on - whether that's true to life or just DCS I do not know.

It looks a bit less cloudy for the N Bty. Again whether that is DCS simulating the cloud cover over hills, where the S Bty are located, or not I can't tell.

See you on Tuesday.

Alan,
I didn't change any strategic or tactical element of your miz. Routing remains as you designed.

As you are well aware, you have to judge and change your attack heading to allow for less cloud cover.

On the night, the cloud gods will be against me. My run in on the north artillery will be more of a challenge than your south targets.
