26th April - Op Persian Storm Final - Pilots Required.

Post by 309 Geoff »

All,
I will not be able to fly, as I will be travelling to Lincolnshire for 4 weeks. Paul has agreed that I will prepare the miz, and brief for 97Sqn, then someone else will lead on the night.

I hope everyone is available to fly. There are lots of targets to destroy. Names please.

I've flown into the target area, just VMC, below cloud. The AAA opened fire. I considered:-

1. Buddy lasing: Will take too long, delaying 60Sqn. Their TOT is only 10mins after our TOT.
2. JDAMs: Too many waypoints.

My idea will be to hit all the AAA with Mav Ds. There are 20 AAA units. We will all be armed with 6*MavDs, 49 Mk282 laser rockets, and 3*GBU12s. 90%fuel. Once the AAA is destroyed, then hit the vehicles, armed outposts, and infantry with laser rockets and GBU12s. The vehicles will fire back. Beware "CCRP invalid" on the 12s.
We will fly, in trail, at 2000ft, climbing to 4500ft, then 8000ft, for the attacks. I'll split the flight into 2, with both operating from different IPs.

Alan,
I volunteered to do all the planning, to spread the workload. I trust this is acceptable.

Geoff, thanks for preparing the mission. Right now I have my work schedule busy for Tuesday the 26th. I'm still trying to adjust so I can be there. I think with 80% certainty that I will make it, but only at the end of the week I'll be sure.

All,
Here is the miz for the 26th. I had to upload it to my OneDrive. I couldn't copy/paste directly for some reason.

I've only spent about 4 hours building, so I make no apologies.

Paul,
We don't have a flight prepared for tonight. What do you think about trying it out tonight?
I'll now start on the brief.

If I'm understanding, is there a plan for today night?
If so, count me in please, I thought 97th flights were at Wednesdays.

Paul, yes, I am happy to lead, if I can get my PC up and running.

The connector to one of my monitors became detached yesterday and, on reconnecting, I have been unable to restart DCS. All I get is the main screen blank and the other screens showing random patches of sky. The monitor set-up has obviously become corrupted, and I am having to go through the various start-up files, to locate what has happened.

If all else fails I will have to re-install from scratch, which is going to take a lot of work, re-installing all my mods - most of which I have long forgotten.

Can you confirm that the 97 response has gone back with our route etc completed?

Paul, Alan,
The Duke planning miz was circulated yesterday, at 1931 local, due to the Easter break.

I've circulated my miz on the 97Sqn forum earlier today, for pilots to try out and make comments.

I hope to put the finishing touches to my miz, tomorrow, after a test flight tonight. I'll be on TS at 1920hrs local. Now working on a brief for tonight.

Lots to do; so little time.

All,
Here's the brief for our test flight tonight. Again, copy and paste failed, so it's on my OneDrive. It's not been thoroughly checked due to time constraints.

Hope to see some of 97Sqn on TS at 1920hrs tonight, for a test flight.
