For those of you who are unaware, we are making a special effort to raise some extra funding to pay for the memory components in a server update. The remaining hardware needs have already been covered.

It will make our server bigger and better, something we need to achieve soon given the extra numbers using the server this year.

Contributions are purely voluntary, but if you feel you are able to contribute to our service, you will find a paypal link on the website.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated. A running total will be provided shortly so we know where we have reached.

I’d like to thank everyone for making it possible, but we are now in a position to order the memory for the server hardware update.

We will announce when the update is to be carried out.

Thanks for the support guys, we couldn’t run the server without your help.

Not as a direct result, but all part and parcel of the upgrade, the server operation is being changed, so the server will be off-line, or online, but not for general use for the next few days. This is due to some testing being conducted, and will hopefully result in multiple missions being available at once, and also far smaller system resource requirements.

Have a chat with your Squadron admin staff to arrange for something fun to do in multiplayer for the present.

Normal service will be resumed in a day or two.

The server update is complete, but now we need to work out how to run two virtual servers side by side on the same machine.

Is there anyone among us who knows how and would be willing to set it all up on the dedicated server system?

Message me if you are in a position to help out.

Thanks

Thanks to Chris for the offer of help, but it seems we now have it all configured apart from some tricks regarding memory allocation which our good friend and supporter Kieran.

It will be a good opportunity to run the dedicated server on Tuesday to test it under a heavier load.

Going forwards we will be in a position to run 2 separate servers, so we will be able to offer both Persian Gulf and the Caucasus generic missions and have a service available to two separate missions on training nights and operational nights.

The extra memory will also mean more capacity for clients on big mission nights too.

Thanks to Kieran and Ade for making it all possible, and also to everyone who donated to our papal account.

We will have some maps to give away in competitions in the coming months too, so if you need the Persian Gulf, Normandy or NTTR, then you may get a chance to win them.

The 2 servers are now on ports 10308 and10309 and 5002 and 5003.

We will still need to set up a second SRS if that can be done. Anyone know if that is possible?

Never had a need to actually do it Neil but I believe it is possible provided different config files are used and of course these state (and elsewhere configured) separate ports for each instance etc...

Launch each Simple Radio Server with params -cfg=path/to/config

Hope this helps.... if stuck ask Kieran to email me....
Kind Regards
Chris :)
