Dedicated flight server 2 CAVOK mission A to A refuelling
Thanks for getting the servers up and running. It looks like it takes a lot of work. I really appreciate it.
I was refuelling from ARCO this morning with an A10.
The briefing says the Boom tanker for the A10 is called Arco, when you contact the tanker and the comms menu appears all tankers are called Texaco. Arco is the 3rd on the list, the frequency is correct.
Arco is flying at 160 kts prior to contact. Once pre-contact has been made it speeds up to 180 kts. This made it entertaining for my first ever NVG refuelling But I was very pleased with how it went and feel that I am now on the way to mastering A to A refuelling.
While on the PG sever the other day I witnessed something similar to this, I thought it was a bug, I obviously know nothing. But it's freaky how Google managed to send me a photo to a news feed the following day.

I have seen that before when trying to create a mission. No matter what you do, the tankers do their own thing lol. I just look for one that responds and has a basket.

The speeding up on contact has been a recurrent problem. I have found that it is usually due to a different speed and/or height set in the Orbit, as opposed to the legs outside the orbit.
As for the drogue/basket. It Is simpler to just use two tanker types: the KC-135MPRS (Drogue) and the KC-135 (Boom). I always put the KC-135 between 17,000 ft and 21,000Ft, at around 210 kias; and the KC-135 at around 24,000 ft - 28,000 ft at around 260 kias.

Once you realise that the tanker speeds up at contact, it just adds to the fun.

I also suspect it is down to transitioning from fuel saving cruise profiles to AAR specific air speeds too.
