March 10th

My 2 cent's on last night.
Not so much about actual flying.

Of the 30 minutes of briefing time.
Approx. 5min's where used for actual briefing.
2,5 minutes into that I volunteered to lead a flight for the first time. :o

Time left to get shit sorted 180 seconds.
Of these 180 second's approx, 0 seconds where used for read-back of "mission" parameters. (only thing I managed was to give the flight a guideline takeoff weight at 45K)

Resulting in I'm guessing 10 minutes or more of two flights moving on target zone instead of one flight heading to tanker. (probably my bad)
Time wasted 10minutes x 7 peeps = 70 minutes prosecuting in target area.

Altho I really enjoyed seeing 7 hogs around the tanker. :D

Paul was having mic issues, and should have been presented with the option to fly with the non-aries group. would have allowed him some time to sort shit out and re-group / comm's at leisure. (this might have happened for all I know)
We all should have picked up on Paul's mic issue a bit earlier, as he was probably unawares.

Suggestion.

Standardise written briefs for pvp mission. (and maybe range)
Scenario A, Scenario B.
Simplistic, Tiger flight, does this, Lion that e.t.c.
Easy to use when no additional mission planning has been performed.
Better to deviate from something than go ad-hoc from nothing?

Hi David,

I found out my mic issue was due to a broken wire, so I couldn,t have talked to anybody if I wanted to. That's why I did not fly, (I,m not the fastest typist, and trying to fly and type at the same time is not easy).

I've ordered a new Razer Kraken headset, which should arrive today sometime, so hopefully I will be able to join the flight tonight.

Till then

Having given this some thought, and agreeing that I have found myself in that position several times of having to come up with a plan on the fly, I agree that some forward plan is a good idea.

My suggestion is that we use the 74 sqdn training range V 2.0 mission as this gives us potentially 5 areas to play in independently (including tanker) - not including 97 sqdn areas.

If we work in pairs we can find work for up to 10 pilots (more if we fly as 4's) and there's no reason why we couldn't use a slot system so we could move between areas. The areas themselves would determine weapon fit or you could use a general mix and hit several areas. Only downside would be that some areas would run out of targets, but then there's always the range!

We are always happy for anyone to create a mission set for flight nights.

The PvP is pretty ad-hoc, but if anyone wanted to adapt it for more structured sorties, then you are very welcome to do so, and create the necessary mission briefings etc.

The more the better.
