Without doubt, the F/a-18C is the weapon of choice for naval strikes. We have harpoon, which is now fully implemented.

I seem to remember that the last time we used harpoons against warships, they were all batted out of the sky, within a few seconds of getting in range.
That was many months ago, and only 2 or 3 were fired against Red air-defence destroyer/cruisers. It was fairly disheartening, but probably true to life.

Developing tactics is still a work in progress.
I suspect we need to remove the SAM threat as a first step, or just saturate the target with more missiles than they can deal with.
In short, a well defended fleet will be a very tough nut to crack. Single vessels in isolation may be vulnerable however.

That’s OK - neither of them had SAMs.
