Newbie RIO Question - TrackIR

Post by RAF0448 »

I really hope I'm missing something obvious...

When I assume the RIO position and "re-centre" my TRACK-IR I'm always looking down and to my left. No mater what I do it always reverts back to that position.

Its the only aircraft that I have this problem and in the pilots seat TRACK-IR centres correctly. Any insight or guidance much appropriated.

Cheers

Thats odd. Its always centred on both pits for me without issue.

I know its just very strange. I may have screwed something up when I was setting up my snap views.
Might have to investigate resetting my RIO Keybindings to see if that helps.

Just get rid of snap views altogether, not necessary with Track IR.

Saved snapview data is stored here .....

C:\Users\<YOUR NAME>\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\View\SnapViews.lua

You can delete this file and ALL snapviews FOR ALL AIRCRAFT will be reset to default next time you run DCS.... If you use snapviews a lot this can be a pain to get them all back the way you want.

Alternatively you can...

Make a copy of SnapViews.lua and place it somewhere safe as a backup - if you screw up just replace the original.

Then Edit the file in your saved games folder using notepad++ or similar...

Find this line.....
SnapViews["F-14B"] = {

then 40 lines further down ... this line
[2] = {-- player slot 2

Delete this line and also all following lines until the start of a line beginning...
SnapViews["F-15C"] = {

save and your RIO snapviews are reset to defaults...

If not happy with editing lua's send me your saved games SnapViews.lua file and I will do it for you, if desired...
Kind Regards
Chris :)

I'm probably missing something obvious (not something you want to hear from your RIO to often) but are there any RIO training missions in the game where the AI Pilot flies.

Something that would allow me to learn the basic RIO activities etc.

You can use "Iceman" but he sucks. Just try RIO with a real dude for shits and giggles 😎
