Looking to do a "Cold Start" Check to Join 11(F) as a Trainee Rio

Post by RAF0448 »

Looking to do a "Cold Start" Check to join Number 11(F) Squadron as a Trainee Rio.

I spent a few minutes chatting last week chatting with WC (Mutley) Keast who advised that I need to demonstrate cold start skills from the back seat to join 11(F) as a trainee RIO.

Is anyone available this evening or tomorrow evening for 20 minutes witness me completing my Cold Start.

Thanks,
Student Pilot Nathan "Doozer" Chivers - RAF Air UK

What time are you free mate?

I think you need Shaggy, but I can sit in the front and if we are good to taxi with all my systems running up front, that's a good starter for 10 to my mind mate. I've just finished work and I have got to eat, so if you can be online about 2000 I can meet you on team speak.

@Mutley, is this good for you boss?

FAO Mutley

I carried out a side by side (both in the back seat) RIO Cold Startup with Nathan tonight. A couple of minor points missed but only that would affect Multiplayer play. His method was the by the book in game Tutorial method.

We then carried out a joint ship Cold start with myself as the pilot, where Nathan was able to fully complete the cold start process without any issues. He was also able to prove that he knows how to now set up radio frequencies manually rather than use presets and manually input waypoints during the INS allignment phase.

We plan to get together over the next few days/weeks to train up on Radar, IFF, Lantern, Weapon set ups and Nav Grid.

On a basic level, he is good to go!

Sounds good Shaggy. Well done both.

How do you both get in the back if I may ask?

I'm guessing 2 jets. I got online with Doozer before he had to go, I can also take him up for practice flights once he has done some training with Shaggy, I'm happy to fly him around while he practices stuff.
