Mirage 2000C startup is quite simple, however learning the INS system is key in to its success as a multirole airframe for RAFAIR. To that end learning these functions are a must for any pilot looking to become proficient in its use. for a visual tutorial I am using Crash Laobi's 1 minute DCS series as most systems then the Mirage 2000C are quite simple with exception to the INS.
INS
the INS is key for navigation in the Mirage, and can be utilized for bombing and landing where a synthetic runway is required, mainly adverse weather. (see below for a visual representation of a synthetic runway in the Mirage 2000C)

Anyone wishing to fly the Mirage in combat on a squadron mission will go through a separate check ride, which will involve an identical check ride set of missions with the addition of a basic air to air engagement mission after passing your basic check ride flights. (this is aimed at beginners to ensure they understand how to use the air to air ordinance and especially the IFF (Identification friend or foe) system in a air defence role) which I have created.

Attempted to air to air refuel with the Mirage today however it was even twitchier than the A-10, has anyone got a pitch and roll axis tune that works well? Thanks for reading.

Re: Mirage 2000C Tutorial/Help Discussion
I haven't tried at all with the Mirage after an initial attempt. The fly by wire was delaying inputs too much at the time, and made it nigh on impossible.
There are a couple of possibilities that may help before going as far as curve tuning. First, there is a fly by wire option for heavily armed aircraft to limit G forces achievable, and then there is the option to turn off Fly by Wire intervention altogether. Whether these facilities help or hinder I don't know, but I know some users were swearing by one or another of them on the DCS Forum.
But as in all things AAR, you may just need to keep persevering until it clicks. Muscle memory is a huge help in flight simming I always think. I found with the Gazelle, at first it was like riding a bucking bronco, and after lots of stick time, it smoothed out completely.

A tutorial/demonstration of an ILS/synthetic runway approach with low visibility by myself.....first try at making a tutorial uploaded on the YouTube channel.

Re: Mirage 2000C Tutorial/Help Discussion
I've had some more practice with AAR in the Mirage, and I'd like to have a session covering air to air weaponry again when you are available Matt.
I have set up the HOTAS for radar range, sweep and lines. I think I need the special modes forwards setting up for A-G modes too, having read your thing on the new radar configurations. I'd be interested to know just how you have your system set up.

Hi Neil,
Sadly I am away until Friday with work, if your free Friday or over the weekend I would love to help you get to grips with the air to air weaponry on the Mirage.
What I shall do is once I get back to my cockpit Friday afternoon I will go over all my control settings and let you know anything else that is pertinent, off the top of my head: Radar range and sweep controls, obviously weapons release and special modes for close range combat and jammer controls are the most useful to have readily avaliable for most air to air engagements.
Any other questions you have on any aspect of the Mirage feel free to ask away and when I get afew minutes away from 120mm rifled guns I shall get you an answer

Re: Mirage 2000C Tutorial/Help Discussion
Hi Matt,
I remember you said you were away for a few days, so there is no rush. I have the radar controls mapped, and the countermeasures. I didn't think about the close combat mode switch, so I'll take a look at that too now.
Hopefully we will be able to give the MiG-29s a run for their money next time.

Yes very true, I got one with guns
With the countermeasures you have the programed release switch and a panic release switch, I recommend having both mapped the panic release has saved me once or twice as it releases a good quantity of both to "hopefully" defeat any threat.
If I think of anything else I shall let you know.

Excellent. I like mapping keys with the word panic in them - that's my kind of flying!
