SCRATCH PAD WITH KEYBOARD - GREAT FOR VR + 2D

Post by Chris »

The scratchpad has been about for a while now, based on the same scripting as SRS overlay it allows you to type in 'stuff' say lat & long from the F10 for waypoints on the go etc...

It was always an issue with VR reaching the keyboard and touch typing... hmm

Then some clever chap bolted on a numpad and then a full QWERTY keyboard to it and that made it very useful. You just toggle it up with CTRL+SHIFT+X. It is resizeable and moveable on the go too.

I've always used it but then as an addition I forgot that you can add simple text files and scroll through them too.... Sometimes for simple stuff like mission freqs or quick starts making a kneeboard png is a bit of a pain but a text file is simple. You can have as many as you want and just scroll through with mouse clicks. Getting a grip with VAICOM and F14 RIO I have to learn an awful lot of commands and use them in the correct sequence. Being a bit on the slow and thick side this little add on is perfect. It is not a mod as such just an add on run from your scripts folder in the saved games. There is a folder in the root of DCS.openbeta for the text files. Below are some pics, the app itself and example text files. Cant recommend it enough. (In SP player you can import user marks from the map as lat / lon but not in MP :(

Just a note for VR users if you use it it is controlled by the white VR mouse dot and not the DCS +, so position it to the right or centre of the screen. If on the left and you cant get the VR dot just F10 to map view and the 'dot' is always used there...

Any grief or want a hand just shout...

CTRL+SHIFT+X Calls it up... type in whatever - available in all views incl F10 When you close DCS the typed in text is available in a text file...

Use a side keys to scroll through pre made txt files. It is resizable and vertical scroll bars appear if needed

I love the idea of scratchpad but I need to give it a go with the keyboard.
I had it set up so I could record my voice, great for 9 line read back, then I could play it while inputting in to the A10 cdu. In the end it was too clunky. I bought some elastic, a pad and a pen.

Had this for a long time and as a sole VR user I couldn’t be without it.

Highly recommend

Also another cracking program called VRK or VR kneeboard.

https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/211308-vr ... k-support/

The program is free and requires a tiny investment in a Huion H640P tablet (£40 on Amazon)

You can copy PDF’s straight into a kneeboard and draw all over them if you desire. Watch the video on the forum, you’ll get the jist.
