Third one was pretty! That's the way to do it, get settled and solid about 3 ft from the basket and then nudge forward. Once you are connected, keep the pod in the same place on the windshield. Don't look at the basket, ever, peripheral vision only, if you look at it, you end up chasing it and then you get PIO. If it helps, get settled and engage the autopilot switch, no heading hold or alt hold etc. just the autopilot switch itself. It smooths everything out and keeps the bird flying in the attitude you have it in 😉

Nicely done sir, the Tomcat is not easy at all to refuel!

th ap switch turns autotrim on, i like it apart from the horrible deadzone it causes

I tried with the AP on and it was god awful! I truly hate the way it adds a dead zone in the middle and kind of notches rather than changes attitude smoothly.

I know Mongo uses the AP all the way but I am really not a fan. A bit more practice and I'll be fine I reckon!

I don't use it for a2a, only on long transits when I am head down in the cockpit.

Yes I use it all the time on transits. Just not on AAR.

It's great for flying lead in the formation, but I find if I am flying wing it's better to not use it, the dead zone you rightly mentioned makes fine adjustment for good formation tough.

It went in pretty quick last night and then it was in and out like a fiddlers elbow. Just need to calm it down and keep it in there til its full. As you could see I managed to fill it up in sips!

I was beginning to think that it was impossible but now I have something to aim for!
