Pickup flight?

Post by Mad dog »

Anybody fancy a jaunt around the area tonight? I'll be online about 1900ish if anybody fancies it.

@Doozer, fancy a backseat cabbie?

Great flying with you tonight Mongo/Shaggy*. It was good to get up and get back to grips with bombing in the cat. It was great to have a human in the backseat, I learned a lot from that, so thanks mate, you did a cracking job.

Pongo and Uber do you have the Lantirn Pilot mod so that you can drop LGB's without the need for a human RIO? There is a download and instructions in my a/g part of our forum training section.

If you are interested in learning it (although if you have human RIO's its a different story) I can run my practice server on Thursday and talk you through the process of using it and getting bombs on target. I also have several bombsites set up in the mission to allow you to practice unguided bombs, some intercept fighters for air to air and AAR if that takes your fancy. We had a few weeks of bomb training (specifically the pilot Lantirn) a while back but haven't touched it for a few weeks to allow us to practice other skills.

Yes FC, I have the Lantirn mod. I used it ages ago, but was never an expert with it and I haven't touched it in a long time so I would very much like a refresher if you have the time buddy. I used to be able to hit the first target most of the time, but sometimes had trouble acquiring a second target and subsequently hitting it. I have always used it from the front seat, never been lucky enough to have a human RIO 🙁

It's great fun from the front seat. You just have to make sure that your keybinds are set up to make using it intuitive.

Whats your HOTAS setup? Warthog or something else? I use a Virpil F14 stick with an X55 throttle.

I've got a warthog mate. I always struggled with lasing as I had to hold the modifier and the trigger half action whilst trying to fly the jet in a gentle right hander. I guess I need to probably look at my bindings to see if I can make it better.

I am wondering if, instead of holding two buttons down on the stick, I could wait until TTI is less than 30 seconds and just hit "Laser latch"?
