Is sector size a major issue with the awg 9 and the cats kinetic capbility?

It has more to do with SA and knowing who is where.

For example if we are in sector 3 and there is a Furball in sector 4, we know where not to be shooting missiles in that direction!

Correct. It's simply so that when communicating with each other we have a detailed reference grid of where we are and where others are.

chill mutley, sometimes they cant be avoided. you cant always plan these things
