After Action Report for Op deep valley 14/7/20
Mission Objective and intent: CAP
Commander's mission/intent (what was supposed to happen).
Protection of friendly air assets attacking hostile ground forces
Opposing force (OPFOR) commander's mission/intent.
Protection of ground forces under attack by Blue air
Summary of events (what actually happened).
Understrength blue forces took on overwhelming red air assets. Achieved a high kill ratio in difficult circumstances but ultimately lost every airframe. Approx 80% aircrew recovered with minor injuries, the rest are MIA at this time
Key issues:
All blue air squadrons understrength including SEAD
IFF still a problem for the newer squadrons
f14 serviceability still not 100%, multiple in flight failures again (have contacted grumman for tech support)
More red air than expected and sam sites still active
Order of events.
To follow
Key events/issues.
Every member of UZI took on and beat Red air despite insurmountable odds
Tasks to improve.
Very few negatives to report,
comms was a major improvement but not quite 100% yet
Closing comments (summary).
Excellent performance from every member of UZI last night.
Special credit to mutley for a much improved performance, especially on comms.
Also credit to Shaggy for an impeccable evening following absence, every call and decision made was 100% correct and timely.
Alien was rock solid as 2nd flight lead, requiring no input from lead
Pongo demonstrated exceptional airmanship notching several missiles and eliminated several bandits (4 confirmed?)
