Harrier Training

Post by Matt »

Hi all,

Considering our lovable Harrier has a few tricks under its sleeve I've thought about an OCU of sorts geared towards what the Harrier can achieve and looking towards it strengths.

My initial thoughts are to make the skills as interlinked with the F18 OCU as possible covering the same tactics and formations used by those gents therefore making us fully understand how they operate and therefore being able to mutually support one another if required.

The biggest difference is obviously VSTOL and a lack of BVR combat, however we add the ability to operate from roads and FARPs and quite advanced carrier ops in the way of different landing and take off techniques (which I'm also adding the addition of the royal navy's new rolling carrier landing for the F35 which are very useful for bringing heavy loads back to a ship)

What are peoples thoughts on this?

Sounds good Matt.

Some basics first would be good but keen to learn.

Hi Matt,

A Harrier OCU would be great and definitely something I'd be up for. Incorporatng Harrier uniqueness into the F/A-18C curriculum sounds like a solid way to go. I'm hoping to be active again in the New Year, but not sure just when yet.

I’d love to be in on this. Had it since day 1, and still love it.

Awesome stuff, I will start adapting a course to use the Harriers "unique" talents.
