1(F) Mission Sets For Mission Designers

Post by Matt »

Written up by our very own Hendo, basically explaining the kind of missions 1(F) Squadron can conduct with our airframe for interested mission designers.

1(F) Squadron mission sets:

CAS: Close Air Support. Attacking ground targets in close proximity of friendlies. Under FAC control

AI: Air Interdiction. Attack on enemy supply lines, C2 nodes and artillery. All behind the frontline

BAI: Battlefield Air Interdiction. Attack on enemy forces transiting to front lines. Closer to the frontline.

AR: Armed Reconnaissance. Attacking targets of opportunity in a area.

Strike: A attack on a set target. Can be anything from a command center to a bridge.

OCA: Offensive Counter Air. Destruction of enemy air bases and runway denial.

Recce: Reconnaissance. Gathering intelligence by eye or with the TPOD.

DEAD: Destruction of Enemy Air defences. Attacking enemy radar sites or mopping up left over units at SAM sites. **No offensive capability in attacking fully operational sites.**

FAC(A): Forward Air Controller Airborne. Controlling friendly CAS aircraft from the air.

SCAR: Strike Coordination and Reconnaissance. Similar to FAC(A), but then controlling Air Interdiction aircraft within a Killbox.

Hi Matt

I would like to design a mission for 60 Sqn and 1F. I am working on one at the moment which will entail CAS and Logistic interdiction. 60 Sqn have been working hard to perfect our multicrew experience and we will very soon want to work with another Sqn to develop these further. If you would be interested I will prepare the bare bones and send over for consultation?

Hi Matt

some questions:

a. I will have you either carrier (Tarawa) or airbase, what is a good distance from base to target (min/Max)?
b. Cold or hot start?
c. I presume you will do your own loadout?
d. Can you take out targets in an Urban environment?

Cheers

Hi mate

1) we would recommend HMS Hermes if you want a carrier operation due to the added payload we can take (due to the ramp) but we can happily operate from either that or an Airbase

2) Cold start would be preferable

3) Yes if you give us the target location we will deal with routes and loadouts

4) Yes we can deal with urban targets...we aim to please

Weird, is there some setting I need to select? I drop a plane on the desk and select takeoff from parking and it only has 2 slots in the drop down? I have similar on the Super Carrier (4 slots).

Dont worry about the drop down mate, carriers auto allocate parking by just selecting takeoff from ramp when players populate in the jets

Hi Matt
I would welcome your comments on the attached early draft mission for a joint operation. The idea is that we are protecting the main airfield at Nicosia, which is being assaulted by a Btn strength Armoured unit. This has:

a. 12 platoons of Armoured infantry (4 BMP and 1 T90)
b. 2 x Artillery platoons
c. 1 x HQ setup
d. 2 x AAA platoons
e. 1 x Logistics hub at Port
f. 2 x Resupply convoys
I have included 3 x Friendly JTAC units for the AAA and HQ.
60 Sqn would approach the area from airport to the South of Nicosia and Harriers from the Hermes to the West.
The plan would be to commence from an alert state with a call to say they are under attack, both Sqns would respond to the provided 9 line reports. 60 Sqn would act as spotters and laser designation in order of:

a. AAA units
b. HQ
c. Arty units
Harriers would then depart for the convoys and Logistics hub. Apache will then concentrate on Armoured units, with requested support from Harriers for difficult targets.

I am planning on a script that:
a. Provides an automatic nine line on zone triggers for the Arty and HQ.
b. Randomised spawning of Armour units as they attack from a wide front. I will set spawn to be approx. 600m apart.
c. Convoys will randomly respawn twice to give a varied target.
Welcome your thoughts?
Neal
