Case III Recovery
Re: Case III Recovery
Just tried a holding pattern at 9000, 300knots ground speed (270 knots indicated air speed) using EADI and a rate 1 turn 360 degs took 2 min 5 secs. That’s accurate enough for me.

A bit dismissive Alan...
Although a true statement in the generic sense with some aircraft from early instruments to modern day this Forum relates to 892 NAS DCS F18 and I have seen no evidence of any such inaccuracies.
The electronic ADI source can be user selected to the INS OR the STANDBY AI. It is large and clear by design for easy reference when workload is high and is often used in holding patterns and carrier recoveries where even the ILS needles are superimposed to reduce workload.
The 4 rectangles when aligned correctly WILL give you a standard rate 3° per second turn, or in other words a 360° turn in 2 minutes WHETHER you are at 300 KIAS 3000'ASL or 450 KIAS 6000' ASL or whatever... no need for prior calculations or dictated speeds for the sake of it.
Just in case a new guy reading the thread thinks it is unreliable and not give use due cognizance.
Kind Regards
