Bikini Red heading to LZ and will require Buc flight to escort in.

While red flight returns for troops buc flight will continue supressing LZ, if the enemy is present and also in assisting the Ground forces. Obviously Buc flight will have to be on top of rearming, so as not to leave slicks without cover.

When Bikini Red returns to LZ with fresh troops, Buc flight will be required to form up either side and lay down suppressing fire as flight goes in if needed.

And repeat until bedtime.
who is we?
blue are airstart and going straight into the live lz?
buc are escorting red from farp to lz? do buc split from red and go in just before or are we pinned to red all the way in?
buc are then staying at the lz to clear up/support yes?

The Misson is troop delivery.

Bikini blue are on their way and will be landing as we take off.

All I know is red flight are to drop troops in to lz x Ray.

Buc flight will enable us to do that. If the lz is hot suppress, if it isn't just orbit.

I believe it will all play out from there.

But as you know, in love, war and mission designing nothing goes to plan......

We just get sent where we're sent.

At the moment lz is cherry ICE

I believe we just take it from there depending on the situation we find on the ground.

Good Session Andrew, thank you for all the work 'n stuff....

Buc's had a good time as can be seen by the rather large hole in the tail, the side gunnners window is gone too and little glass in the cockpit - both foot bubbles were gone too, as were 2 of the 3 radios...

Overall it seemed to go well and we all managed to get in and out a few times. But I think you could call it Cherry hot.
Great fun.

Take away from last night.
  • We need to be a little more organised at start up
  • We need a SOP for getting from pens to take off strip, this needs to be read and practiced and understood
  • We need a refresher on formation flying
  • I will publish requirements for each mission before hand i.e. if anything needs to be mapped on Hotas, you'll know in advance
  • I will publish a mission type / goal early, so if the mission is sling loading you'll have time to get Hotas set up and to have some single player practice if needed
With these points in mind, I'm sure I can come up with something fun for next week.

Agree we need to be a lot more organised on start up. SRS should be used exclusively for missions I think too. One factor might help with leaving the revetments - put the aircraft in the order they will fly - in other words, No 1 closest to the runway. As it stands right now, I have to taxi over all the others. Perhaps a bigger gap between the 2 rows would give us a suitable taxiway?

I thought there were still a lot of avoidable errors when it came to approaching the LZ too. Watching descent rates is essential to avoid VRS.
