60 Squadron

Post by 0405 Andrew »

I'm pleased to announce that 60 Squadron has now been made a Primary Squadron.

Neal is promoted to Flight Lieutenant with immediate effect and is now 2nd in command.

With 60 Squadron being made a primary Squadron This will hopefully mean that some Tuesday missions (when they are underway again) will be open for Hueys and mission designers will consider our involvement. I am conscious that all pilots have 60 Squadron as a secondary squadron and this will not change. It is not the intention to encourage pilots away from their existing squadrons.

I believe that there are DCS pilots on the ED forums that wish to fly the Huey full time and we will now be open to them. There will be a posting in the Eagle Dynamics multiplayer forums. If we do get new members, they will go through the same training and will be integrated in to 60 Squadron and RAF Air as we all have been.

There will be a full Monday night flight programme and 60 Squadron will continue to develop throughout 2021.

minor technicality question, is 60 a huey squadron or a rotary wing squadron? the reason i ask is theres been interest in teh mi8 and the hind will be released in the near/medium future and im personally very interested in that

Hi John
Currently it is a Helicopter squadron.
I believe we only have Huey pilots. Pilots that have entered FTS and passed basic in another airframe can be integrated in to missions. How this will work out I'm not sure at the moment.
We're all looking forward to the Hind coming out.

There are 2 that are well past the Pilot stage in the Mi8 but not ticketed until SP finished but that desire seems to have died a tad except Neil who keeps his hand in with campaigns.

You have experienced gazelle guys out there who may not be 100% on tactics but are extremely well experienced in the airframe, Plexi would be one.

There are a few Ka50 guys (more powerful than the hind) too.

The world is your oyster, good luck.
Kind Regards
Chris :)

That's good to know. We need to carefully consider the integration first, but maybe mi 8 first in the upcoming lebanon series.
