26 Aug Beta Test, with A-10CII

Post by 309 Geoff »

Wee Neal, Andrew,
Further to our discussions, I've finished my mission, and would like to run a beta test. I'll be on TS at 2015hrs on the 26th. Hope you can make it.
The outline is 2 flights of Hueys, taking off from FARPs, and separately rescuing POWs and attacking the insurgent's compound.
It's a dusk take off. Mission will be based on dead reckoning, requiring accurate heading and timing on the transit to the target areas.
I'll be airborne in an A-10C, and will highlight the enemy compound with illumination rockets.

Here's the brief:-

Hi Geoff

I am hopeful of making it tonight. However a slight caveat is that last night when I was flying around I had 7 Blue screen crashes. I was unable to find any errors etc so these are, for now, unexplained. That being said I did fly for approx 30 mins without a pc crash so fingers crossed it was a glitch! On another note TS was not working last night, so we may need to use Discord?

Speak soon

Neal,
TS is working now. Hope the blue screen does not happen again.
On Tuesday, my SRS failed, so we all used TS. I felt a little embarrassed.
Did a clean SRS install, and still failed, so I uninstalled DCS, and started from scratch. All good now.
We will use my PC tonight. I'll try to use SRS on my PC also.

I'm not sure what I'm up to tonight, still awaiting instructions from the boss.

If I can I'll try to get on.

Andrew,
If you can't make it, no problem. I'll try and persuade Wee Neal to fly twice. One, POW, and second, Compound. I'll cut the transit back to Al Ain Intl.

Here's a 25min HD youtube of the beta test, with myself and Wee Neal.

I thought the test went quite well. Neil's headings and timings were accurate, and he hit all the waypoints. I only used one smoke marker, and offered to mark other WP's, but Neil said no thanks. He wanted to test out his dead reckoning.

Thankyou Neil for your support. It was impressive watching you circle the enemy, with my illumination rockets lighting up their compound.
