Apache - Updated map

Post by Wee Neal 0414 »

Hi all
I have updated the training map to now include some operational areas to the East of the island. The description of the map areas:

Apache Training – Cyprus
This map has been developed to provide a training ground for the Apache pilots. It has a number of areas designed to learn and practice key skills:
Bases. There are aircraft located at Pathos airport and a specially constructed FARP. These are intended as a starting base, but also to practice take off and landings in different conditions.
Firing range. This area is populated with moving and static enemy vehicles; these respawn automatically. This area is to practice weapon deployment in whichever method the crew deem appropriate.
Coastal village. This is designed to practice recce drills and formations. The intent is that this practices bounding overwatch and NOE flying only. It is not designed as a firing range. Basically sneak up on the enemy and practice tactical NOE movement and communications between aircraft. The enemy do not respawn at this location. PLEASE DO NOT DESTROY THE ENEMY HERE
Pop up practice. There are two enemy occupied villages on either side of a valley. Two pop up points have been marked by flares. The intent here is to practice hovering and pop up attacks against enemy targets. Enemy will respawn. This is not intended as a running attack area, it is a fire from cover practice area.
Recce area. This area has a number of enemy recce units operating. This area is intended to practice search patterns, target indication, and flight communication.
Operations areas 1 and 2. These are two areas to the East of the island, marked by 2 squares. The nearest base with Apache is Pathos. You will need to be flying within either square for the triggers to work. This scripting is courtesy of https://forum.dcs.world/topic/286538-tr ... on-github/
Instructions: whilst flying in either box select the comms menu >Other>Troops in Contact>select either Heavy (Armour) or light (mechanised). This will activate a randomly spawned engagement, generating a nine line request for CAS. You can also, using the menu clear the TIC from the square to start fresh. Respond as appropriate.
NOTE: This is full weapons free area and is intended for experience crews to practice, it will be unforgiving and as a consequence carries this word of caution. I would hate for people to get dissolutioned by being shot down all the time!
