I will have a dabble!

I have been working on making a mission, steep learning curve with triggers etc. Should be able to share with Chris early this week to get him to critique!!

Smithy.............

Somewhat belated I know, I've just come across this thread. Please see attached image of my DIY F18 UFC together with MFD's. All buttons and switches work properly with the UFC displayed on a cheap Android tablet via software cheaply available online. The Cougars and screens work perfectly and make the F18 much easier to fly/operate. You cant quite see from the image but all three screens are contained within separate enclosures made of plywood and black cardboard sheet (If it was good enough for G De Havilland its good enough for me!). The UFC is touch sensitive so all the buttons work correctly, the analogue switches and grey/black comms rotaries work thru a Leo Bodnar USB card (plug and play) so I can change com channels via Com 1 or 2 rotaries and the channel number is then correctly changed on the UFC. The switch notations are simply printed on ordinary paper using the 3883 USAF print type and carefully stuck on with glue. All of it works well and there's no performance hit as far as I can tell. It takes a bit of time to adjust from using the mouse and keyboard combination to flicking the actual switches but it becomes a lot easier to fly the plane as you might expect. Plus, it was good fun working out how to do it!

The mfd screens @ £80 each, Cougars x 2 another 80 quid for both, assorted switches and glue 30 quid and £100 for a cheap 2nd hand android tablet.

Bob.

Hi Andrew,
i have it, only used it in A10 for inputting coords which is such a pain sometimes but it works really well and very responsive.
