Op Order - 41(F) Sqn Support

Post by Neil Willis »

CVN-75 has entered the Gulf and 41(F) Squadron have been tasked to neutralise some Iranian assets that are involved in aggressive actions towards UAE.

The aggressors know we are coming, so have CAP on station along with QRA. (Unknown quantities.)

There is a strict no fly zone over Omani territory. They are neutral at the moment, but won’t hesitate to side with Iran if provoked.

892 Sqn RNAS have been asked to provide 2 SEAD Hornets to subdue 2x SA-6 sites that pose the greatest threat. This will allow an additional flight of 4 Hornets to provide CAP flights to get overhead and secure airspace in the vicinity of the 41(F) Squadron operation. The SEAD section can join this task once the SAMs have been dealt with.

There will be up to 3 separate low level groups from 41. Once all bombers are safely egressing to the CVN, CAP will end their task by following the bombers home.

AWACS and Tanker support will be tasked to support the mission and will provide fuelling and EWR to 892.

We have been tasked to provide 6 pilots. (2 SEAD and 4 CAP).

The exact timings for these sorties will be released once the full intel picture has been gathered. It is anticipated that the operation will be set for some time next week.

Volunteers will be sought when timings are firmed up.
