CAW operates within RAFAIR UK as an UK/EU-based, experienced group of DCS enthusiasts who focus on naval carrier operations
We welcome pilots to join us who enjoy, or wish to learn to fly airframes that are predominantly carrier based. Primarily, F-14B & F/A-18C with other airframes flown out on a more casual basis (Harrier, Apache, UH60 etc.)
Age and gender are of no consequence but maturity, respect and humility are paramount.

COMMUNITY
CAW does not allude to military hierarchical structures nor ranks.
CAW is managed by consensus amongst senior pilots (those whom have been with the group for over 1 year). There are training coordinators and mission design & ops coordinators to bolster group knowledge and keep us entertained with challenging missions.
Mission flights (division or section) are generally led by senior pilots until new pilots become accustomed and want to step up.
SQUADRONS
F/A-18C: VFA-34 and VMFA-323
F-14B: VF-103
CVN’s carry multiple squadrons and other badged Squadrons can be formed subject to numbers… anything sensible and appropriate is possible with consensus.
It would be good to form a US marine LHT within the wing equipped with AV8BNA’s supporting AH64’s for Naval and FARP operations as well as RNAS liveries and HMS Invincible.
Regular pilots may have personalised nose art on their aircraft if desired.
OPERATIONS
Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday evenings
Full Operational missions are run on average 4 times a month and shorter, more specific training missions at other times. Generally we fly on either TUE, THU or SUN evenings normally commencing 1930 local (UTC winter, UTC+1 summer) You will need to own the Syria Map and Super Carrier Module.
We have no demanding ‘quals’ or other ‘tests’ to be allowed to fly ‘operations’. If you can start up, take off and land at an airfield correctly, use SRS radios, make a stab at a carrier landing and fly in loose echelon formation you are good for all operations. Wherever possible you will be tasked appropriately to your skills, be ‘wing’ to a mentor ‘lead’ and will be applauded for taking part, not made fun of or scorned. You may elect to use divert fields if carrier landings or re-fueling is still being mastered. It is all about the community, learning and enjoying yourself – egos are left at the door..
Operationally we use formal communications and procedures and realise that folk, especially those from a non-service background, often take time and practice to become proficient. All that is asked is to try despite any perceived embarrassment – proficiently will come later – just attempting is the first step and to be commended.
TRAINING
Training is self taught for the most part, you will be expected to use DCS Aircraft Module training missions in SP and we will signpost other quality tutorials, videos or guides as required.
We have a comprehensive training program that will signpost your progression route and mentors are available to explain and help you along every step of the way. All that we ask is friendship, enthusiasm and most importantly regular attendance.

We can be quite diverse and enjoy flying the KAMOV Ka503, SU33 from the Admiral Kuznetsov for some live redair…
Many love WW2 engagements especially with the spitfire and the Normandy map
