Yes, Richard, those young offenders schemes can be hard work.

All,

Flight line-up will be:-

Myself & Paul as Pontiac 1 & 2, Flight One; primary targets are Tanks.

Alan & Richard as Pontiac 3 & 4, Flight Two; primary targets are BMPs.

Richard,

The Tanks are proving to be a real challenge to locate. It's relatively easy to find the BMPs. If you are late to the party, there's every chance that Alan will have destroyed them all before you get to the IP.

No rush, Richard, to give you a chance I won't wear my glasses, my hearing aids or my truss.

All,
Here's the brief for Tuesdays' mission.

Andrew has agreed to alter the formation of the Tanks, and bring them closer together. Currently, they are spread out over 46 square miles. Comms may also change with an updated FRAG.

I look forward to your comments.

Fly safe.

Alan,
Thanks for the update. Not a problem. I'll let Andrew know we have 2 confirmed, plus yourself and Richard as maybe..

Geoff, it now looks as though I shall be OK and on-time for tomorrow night.

However, having taken a look at the Check.miz file, I am confused about the flights composition and numbering.

Firstly the flight (of 8 aircraft?) is called Pontiac and appears to be numbered Pontiac 1-1 to Pontiac 8-1. The second pair are given numbers 3 and 4, but appear to be Pontiac 5-1 and Pontiac 6-1. To add to the confusion the flights are also allocated different DCS Callsigns i.e Springfield 1-1 to 14, and Dodge 1-1 to 1-4.

It may be too late to do anything about it now, but it would have been better to have called the two flights Pontiac 1 and Pontiac 2. That way the first pair would have been Pontiac 1-1 and 1-2, and the second pair Pontiac 1-2 and 2-2. As it is we need to be careful when entering otherwise we shall have the wrong weapons load, and ATC (and DCS AWACs) will be calling us by different callsigns.

I suspect I am seen as something of an old woman with some members but getting the right callsign is fairly important.

I will work though the mission as it is published and let you have any other observations in due course - Sorry!

Alan,
Totally agree.
The miz I returned to Andrew had us as Pontiac 1-8, with call signs Pontiac 1-1 to 1-4. and Pontiac 2-1 to 2-4. ie Pontiac 8 was Pontiac 2-4.
In the check miz circulated by Andrew our callsigns are Springfield and Dodge.

All these changes have been included without my knowledge.

I'm now a little frustrated about the whole process. Earlier today I discovered the mission start time had changed by -10mins. Glad I spotted it because I now have to rework our WPs. Easy if your TOT targets are stationary like an airfield or a compound. More of a challenge if your TOT targets are moving at 11mph, like ours. Andrew tried to help my moving our WPs, but he assumed our targets were moving at a constant speed. That is not the case.

I've asked Andrew for clarification.

I put a lot of time and effort in with my miz and brief. Only to find I have to make major changes within 30hrs of start. I'm 72 tomorrow; time is precious to me. I am not happy at the moment.

I shouldn’t worry too much about it. As for your age, I hadn’t even joined RAFAIR by the time I was 72!

Alan,
Good to know. I'll put the cork back in the second bottle.
