Lights

Post by filthymanc »

As you've probably noticed, I haven't a clue when I should and should not use lights, flashing, steady, etc.

No matter how many times I get told verbally, I can't remember.

Any chance someone could tell me so I can write it in to my Kneeboard. It would be nice to get it right for a change.

Flashing when stationary, when you're ready to taxi steady and when moving .

A lot to learn, but it's slowly sinking in with me.

Also when ready to taxi, turn your Taxi/Landing light on, and turn your Strobes(Anti Collision Lights) on.

I was under the impression that the procedure was as follows:

Prior to engine start, but after start up clearance - Flashing lights to warn ground crew to stand clear.

After start - lights steady.

After pre taxi checks completed - taxi lights on.

Holding short and after take off checks completed - anti collision/landing lights/formation lights on (if required).

After take off - landing/taxi lights off with gear retract.

Fence in - all external lights off until fence out.
