Operation Anaconda 2nd Oct 19:30

Post by Duke »

For those taking part in Sundays Op see initial page brief below. This is a recreation of actual events and great care has been taken to ensure realistic battle area, flight time and enemy / friendly ground numbers are accurate. Link to brief (that is still being finalised at bottom

Operation Anaconda was a military operation that took place in early March 2002 as part of the War in Afghanistan. CIA paramilitary officers, working with their allies, attempted to destroy al-Qaeda and Taliban forces. The operation took place in the Shahi-Kot Valley and Arma Mountains southeast of Zormat. This operation was the first large-scale battle in the post-2001 War in Afghanistan since the Battle of Tora Bora in December 2001.

At 06:15 Task Force Hammer reached its pre assault point and awaited an expected 55 minute aerial bombardment of enemy positions. However an earlier blue on blue incident involving an AC-130 gunship meant the B1B and two F15E aircraft mistook “knock it off” calls to cease their mission and only 6 bombs from the B1B were dropped.

Your flight will depart Bagram escorting Hatchet and Sword carrying Task Force Rakkasan and Delta Force Units into AO for a planned LZ drop time of 07:35 local.

Ugly Flight TOS - 07:20 - Bingo / Winchester
