With the aid of 11th Squadron providing CAP we were able to accomplish our mission unhindered and prevent further ingress of Enemy activity. We did have a mind to change our load out at mission start but found we were unable to do this due to some logistic issue's at Kentucky. We pressed on regardless and had an successful outcome. Comms between all assets where greatly improved and having live ATC and live JTAC proved yet again invaluable with thanks going to Chris and Hendo. A great night and look forward to our next outing.

In light of the blue on blue don't those expensive jets have an iff in them for identifying friend or foe

Just like to echo what Neal said kudos to the harrier guys an epic formation take off from KFC and watching the 2 a10s come in an land on such a short strip was quality you can't buy.

Well I had a really bad night last night, of which at least 5% was NOT MY FAULT!

I hate spawning into an airborne aircraft (although I concede that it would be marginally better than spending the first 2 hrs of the night watching the clouds go by). As a consequence I was (far) less diligent in doing my housekeeping checks. In particular I did not check my load and fuel. Consequently as I touched down at KTY, I was suddenly aware that the runway was very short, and I was very fast. At least as I over-ran the R/W, I had the presence of mind to keep the ac moving and so did not get bogged down.

Fortunately, when I got to the POL area I found someone else to blame. I called for refuel and found that the readout was showing me with 100% in my main tanks, another 1200lb in my ferry tanks (which I had not noticed I was carrying), plus about 15 tons in the travel panniers (I exaggerate slightly for dramatic effect)! The read out also told me, in RED letters, that I had a total AUW of 49,200lbs against a max permissible TOW of 44,800lbs. At this point, Chris, you may have felt your ears burning - for which I apologise greatly. I have since checked and found that the read-out was false - I actually had 55% in my main tanks - I can only think that the A-10, when you ask for a refuel, automatically sets the required amount to maximum.

To my further chagrin, the next A-10C to land stopped safely - (I hate people who don't add 5 kts to the threshold speed for mum and a further 5 kts for each of the kids).

Without any ground crew on the airfield (About the only thing that wasn't my fault!), there seemed little choice but to try and get airborne in my current state. Being a devious and cunning soul, I suggested that Red Lead should go first. Only once I saw that he was safely airborne did I make a take-off (with a good 20 or 30 ft of runway left!). But it is clearly true that 'no good deed goes unpunished', because, once airborne one of main gears light stayed green (I suppose it could have been worse - it could have been red). I selected 'Gear Down' and fortunately got 3 greens. I transited to Batumi at 170kias and landed, without the gear folding up on me.

At least, I must have had my share of "bad luck" for this mission I thought ,as I requested a re-load and repair. Thirty mins later I was airborne again, en-route and ready to take my revenge on anything I could find. Alas it was not to be - nothing I could do would bring my nav/weapons systems to life - I didn't even have a TVV. So, dear reader, I went home! I would like to blame the system, but in reality I know that I must have screwed up the switchery at some stage - but I still don't know how or when.

Life is hard - and then you die! How true.

Once again, Chris, I apologise for all the unkind words I muttered about you. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa.

Chris, and everyone else that took part, thanks for a great evening.

Chevy had a few technical issues, U/S aircraft and finger trouble (probably) but we got there in the end.

Looking forward to the next installment.

The live ATC and JTAC were a great addition, I'd be happy to help out with this in future Ops.

It would be really helpful if we could get LotAtc installed on the server for events like this.

Danny,

I have reinstated LotATC on the server, so it should all work fine now. Want to check it out, and confirm it is accessible? Passwords are currently all default ones.
