Operation "ELLAC"

Post by 0405 Andrew »

Operation Ellac.

Over the last 2 years Turkey have continued to distance itself from NATO. They have been looking both ways for many years but have decided to join a Russian alliance severing years of NATO membership. NATO troops have been told to leave Turkish bases.

Meanwhile the UK has it’s eye on Global Britain and is pursuing an Indo-Pacific strategy .

Turkey have eyes on controlling all of Cyprus, this would be a populist win for the autocratic government and with Russia’s backing and the UK’s lack of interest in the Eastern Mediterranean, this now seems to be the perfect time.

Alarm bells are beginning to ring in Whitehall.

Squadron Commanders and pilots.

As promised here is the .miz, please fill and return as normal. Please return miz files by 5am Sunday morning.

I also attach the FRAG and mission background.

The FRAG should have all the info required alongside the miz file needed to plan your flight. All timings should be in Zulu time. The mission will be un-paused at 03:00:00 Zulu. (06:00:00 Local)

TOT's will be a work in progress, as the WP's are not set yet, the actual TOT's may be changed after we have received the squadron miz back. The FRAG will then be updated with the new TOT's and posted here so squadrons can update their briefs.

All pilots, please sign up with your squadrons. If you do not know how to do that, ask them. Ideally each squadron should have a sign up thread somewhere and you should all be registering interest already.

Squadron commanders, please update numbers as soon as you can.

Squadron Numbers:
1F: 4
3F: 6 (plus 2 possibles)
11F: 4-6
97 Sqn: 4
892 NAS: 4
41 Sqn: 8

The intention is to run this format with the FRAG over the next few cycles and see if this works as it should. We welcome all constructive criticism. This is a joint effort with Ade from 41 Sqn so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask Ade or myself and we will be more than happy to answer them.

These missions only work if you are all behind them, there maybe hiccups along the way, but with the help of many over the last few months I'd like to think they are evolving for the better.

Weather forecast for Tuesday UK real life is crap again. Get those headsets and PC's powered back up!

As a continued effort to improve the missions I encourage all squadrons to post their mission brief / FRAG here for others to view.
We can then take the good from each brief and add it in the future to your own Squadron brief.

(I have never been in the military, so briefing is completely new to me. )

FRAG updated to reflect a slight change of 3F TOT.

This mission is a bit of an experiment to see where we are as a group in regards to the briefing materials, departure and TOT's.
After the mission the TacView will be reviewed, a friendly debrief will be held to see where we need to improve on this aspect of the group missions.
I will be adding a feedback form after the mission has been flown. Please all take the time to fill it in.

Once this part is nailed, I hope to produce more complex missions for RAF Air.

All changes noted. As requested, here's our flight brief for tomorrow.

It's a template we use for all flights, with wpn aide memoire for last-minute refresh before flying, notes on countering Red Air etc. If anyone wishes to use this as a basis for their own briefs, please help yourself. If anyone wants a walk-through of how to put it all together, just drop me a pm.
