Andrew,
No need to work out the positions.
I have the MGRS coordinator for them all. I've input one into the CDU and destroyed it with a laser rocket.

I am slightly concerned at using co-ordinates to take out the man-pads. They have legs, and will occasionally need to go behind a tree to address a call of nature. I can accept that a full-blown SAM will be fairly static, but a lonely infantryman standing alone in a field?
I would prefer to see things a little more uncertain, and accept the risks. Otherwise we could go in at 20,000 ft and take out everything with GBU-38s. Or even easier, we could not bother putting them in the game.

All joking aside Alan, it's not a game, it's a simulation!
Taking out the Sa-8 is so simple, a tunguska is no harder when you know the exact position. The Iglas add an element of danger that are much harder to deal with. It would be a shame to remove them. I'm more in favour of lifting the cloud a little to make it a challenge. What do you think?

Sorry Andrew, I was being a little sarcastic. No, I don’t think the man-pads should come out. One thought, I never looked what setting they were on. They did seem very efficient, perhaps we could set them to a lower ability level.
As, I said it is a sound mission. We will be more respectful of them next time.

AAR 11 Sqdn
Initially we took off from Paphos as a pair of 2 ship elements. We had a late pilot who took off whilst Uzi 1 was about to reach their WP, we then became a 3 ship and adopted a chainsaw pattern north and south each time extending our range, at one point we had reached 90 miles and still no enemy air but we persevered in the hope that something would materialize. It didn't. Uzi 1 would fly to the west to intercept Mig 29's that would be transiting to Gazipasa, Uzi 2 would fly north to WP1 and then turn east to WP 2 to intercept Mig 21's coming out of Incirlik.
Uzi 2 engaged Mig 21's @ 20,000ft at a range of 40 miles, eventually taking down 7 Mig 21's with Aim 54 C's, x 7 off the rail, x 7 kills, well done C/S's Funky ( Lead ) Scooby ( Wm )
We think the Mig 29's knew there were 3 F14's in the air and decided not to show up, splitters.

Andrew, define "a little"? The cloud base needs to be at least 15000ft. Gives us a little clearance, but still tight with several aircraft requiring height separation.0405 Andrew wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 18:16 I'm more in favour of lifting the cloud a little to make it a challenge. What do you think?
Regarding skill levels, the 2 to the West were "High", with 2 Good and 1 Average to the East. The West C2 was "High" and the East C2 "Good".
Keep the manpads. They do add a touch of realism. However, in future, I will not risk my airframe, and climb above the threat level.

I have just checked the miz that was run on Tuesday, which was slightly different to the intel map , the manpads in the West were good, the 3 in the east were 2x good 1x average. From now on all will be set to average.309 Geoff wrote: ↑01 Sep 2021, 22:33Andrew, define "a little"? The cloud base needs to be at least 15000ft. 1500 ft seems fair.

Andrew, I don't think 1500 ft is 'fair' - how about 15000 ft?
I don't have a problem with the man-pads, being exceptional under those conditions.
I would still like the convoys' starts delayed by 30 minutes or so, and their stopping a little further north. As I say, at present, the convoys to to the East go right past 3 blue APC units, at a range of 1/2 to 3/4 nm and, so far as I can judge from the contours, within full view. This is unrealistic.

Could someone post a link to the TacView from the 2nd. I was timed out after my first weapon release, due to a poor upload connection.
Thanks in anticipation.
