Operation Byron 10th May
RAF Air,
I will be building a mission over the weekend using recent events as the inspiration.
I think we can all agree that Russia's advance to Kyiv was unusual, but reality is sometimes stranger than fiction.
I have read many forum posts about how the Russians would have been decimated from the air, but would they? Would the West have been able to destroy the Russian advance with air power, in a contested air space with man-pads and other nasties around? The west is risk adverse when it comes to aircraft loses.
So can RAF Air halt the advance or would it be suicide?
Please let me know if your squadron is able to put planes in the air and I will tailor the mission to suit.
1F: 4 so far
3F: 5 + (2 possible)
97 Sqn:
11F: 2 so far
892:
41F:
'Tis strange,-but true; for truth is always strange;
Stranger than fiction: if it could be told,
How much would novels gain by the exchange!
How differently the world would men behold!
Byron

Re: Operation Byron 10th May
Frag and Intel map attached.
Russia has pushed East from the bridgeheads at Poti and Kobuleti and are heading to Tiblisi. They are also pushing south to capture the major port city of Batumi which is currently doggedly holding out against a fierce assault.
RAF Air have been tasked to stop the push East and help relieve Batumi. A small recon unit has been reported heading North East from Gelati this should also be halted.
Russian air have Mig 29's at Sochi, an attack on Sochi by RAF Air is out of bounds to stop escalation of the conflict. Allied entry of Russian airspace is out of bounds.
Planners.
Please add tankers if needed and make a note when returning miz file.
1F will target ground units in and around the disused airfields at Kvitiri
3F will attack bridges and convoys moving East at Dapnari.
97 Sqn will attack MBT's spearheading the main push East.
892 NAS Will attack the Ammunition ships off the coast of Poti.
41F will attack the Artillery firing on Batumi.
11F will provide BarCap stopping Migs from Sochi hitting our ground attack forces.
60 Squadron, on their first mission since converting to the Apache will halt the recon units probing North of Tkibuli reservoir.
Enemy forces have air defence SA15, SA8 with shirt range Shilka and widely distributed SA18 man pad units. This column is not a sitting duck like the papers and social media would let you believe.
Units on the map may have re-positioned by the time you are in the target area.
We have a limited amount of planes, the top priority is to bring you and your plane home to fight another day!
If you don't come back your mission will be considered a failure.
Please return miz files by Saturday morning 6am.
