Operation Salamander 7th June

Post by Matt »

Situation
Insurgents have captured Sochi Adler Airbase home to four Tu-95 Bear strategic bombers adapted to carry RN-202 strategic thermonuclear payloads, these weapons must be secured from insurgent hands.

Mission Outline
Our aim is to secure the airfield be way of an amphibious assault utilizing the USS Wasp, an amphibious assault ship that is part of the USS John C. Stennis carrier group operating the in area. Therefore, this will be a US/UK joint operation taking advantage of the USS Wasps AAV-7 amphibious landing vehicle to land Royal Marine Commando’s and USMC operators to assault the airfield.
At exactly 0830 the USS Wasps escort ships will conduct a naval bombardment of the airfield lasting for approximately 15 minutes, at 0832 under the cover of the bombardment the AAV-7’s will disembark from the Wasp and start manoeuvring towards the beachhead the journey will take until approximately 0855 weather dependent. Once the airfield air defences have been taken out and the AAV-7’s are on target an airborne assault will be conducted by 60 Squadron to get additional troops on target and they can begin to secure the payloads.

Matt,
One question.
There is no weather shown on the miz, but on the FRAG it's high scattered 2, with a cloud base of 8200ft.
Will that be the actual weather added to the miz?
Changing the cloud base will alter 97Sqn tactics.

Matt,
Apologies, but I'm going to have to redo the 97Sqn miz.
I planned it using no weather, so all my planning was Kutaisi r/w 07.
I've test flew it with high scattered 2 and the dcs wind FRAG wind of 152/4 and Kutaisi r/w 25.

You will have the 97Sqn miz by close of business today.

We are now parked up at the eastern end of airfield, and using Kutaisi r/w 25. I've also made minor changes to the WPs.
