Training map - Apache and FW

Post by Wee Neal 0414 »

Hi all
60 Sqn have been developing a training map based on Cypres, which provides a selection of training areas, listed below. 60 Sqn would like to try and entice some other pilots to join us on the map with the intent to practice inter sqn CAS tasks. At the moment there are F18, F16 and Harriers available for try out. I am very happy to add more if there is interest. I intend to add this mission on to the server this weekend. The map includes:

Apache Training Map– Cyprus (Available as a day and night mission)
This map has been developed to provide a training ground for Apache pilots. There are a number of training areas that are intended to develop pilot and CPG skills. These areas are:
a. Firing range – Auto respawn targets for target practice. The targets patrol randomly and are set to weapons hold.
b. Coastal village – An occupied coastal village intended as a close range recce target.
c. Recce hunt – A small area which has a number of enemy recce units which should be hunted and destroyed.
d. Mountain village – A large hilly area which is heavily patrolled by guerrilla forces and containing a number of hidden mountain villages, which must be hunted and destroyed. Seek and destroy tactics.
e. Occupied village – A heavily patrolled and defended platoon village and section patrol base. Located in a steep river valley. Intended to practice pop up tactics.
f. Troops in Contact (TIC) area – An active warfare area where you can request randomly spawned enemy forces; providing a 9 line target location. This has a Predator JTAC in support.
g. JTAC area x 2 – 2 areas which have a selection of targets. The Eastern area has a live SA6 site as a target.
Bases. There are aircraft located at a number of airports and FARPS, which help to minimise long travel times.
Instructions:
TIC - whilst flying in the boxed area select the Comms menu >Other>Troops in Contact>select either Heavy (Armour) or light (mechanised). This will activate a randomly spawned engagement, generating a nine line request for CAS. You can also, using the menu clear the TIC from the square to start fresh. Respond as appropriate.
JTAC – These are available through the Comms menu >Other> menu.
Pilot information. You can change the settings through the Comms menu >Other> menu to select Lat Long, MGRS etc; This is done per aircraft.
