very excited to let you all know that the Apache is now available for pre order on Stand alone and Steam. Currently 30% off on Steam at £41.30. This was an instant purchase for me and im looking forward to hopefully a new squadron being created for this whirly bird!

60 Squadron will transitioning to the Apache.

The aim would be to run training on Monday evening and maybe Thursday if popular, when we're up to speed we will be introduced to Tuesday night's mission if there was the demand.

Something will be posted in the 60 Squadron forum shortly. Of course we'll welcome new members, while we are waiting for the release we will be running some training missions in the huey, practicing terrain masking and positioning.
None of us know yet how the AH-64D will fly, it was an underpowered airframe compared to the A and E model so it may have more in common with the Huey than might be thought.

Hi Andrew, my views on the apache use in DCS will probably not be the same so I doubt if I would go the 60 Sqn operational route - too many clashes of thought... gunship integration for example.

I know the aircraft basic tactics and have full documentation of tactical implementation in various battle groups and it is this that interests me.

Personally I do not think of a airframe change or replacement but much prefer an enhancement as part of a multi-skilled playground involving all aircraft that flew roughly in the same frame 1990 > 2005 for those allied to the US, i.e. Huey / Mi17 / SA243 / AH-64D.

With this in mind, No 1 FTS(RW) depending on demand, will probably offer a comprehensive training package with equal emphasis on both roles rather than pilot or gunner but more importantly airmanship, navigation and tactics, single and as a 'pack' plus all the command and control options that DCS may or may not implement..... as I said if there is interest for this level of immersion.
Kind Regards
Chris :)
