I'm sure we've all thought about that 40 mile convoy that was heading to Kyiv.
How it should be attacked if the Ukraine's had planes in the air. How NATO would have decimated it or even how RAF Air would tackle it.
However I've been trying to research the convoys air defences, but I'm drawing a blank on news articles or commentary on its actual make-up and defence. Does anyone have any articles they can share?
I'm guessing it was bristling with manpads, shilkas and other AAA with the odd Sa15, 19, 9 and 11, judging by what the Ukrainian farmers towed away. This would make the attack harder and not quite the walk in park. I heard many comments of "send in the A10s!" but I can't believe that they'd get away unscathed.

Re: 40 mile convoy
There has been reports of censorship even for Western journalist etc so there's obviously lots going on we're not being shown in press.
People commenting A10s would decimate it clearly don't realise how effective Russian Shorad systems are.
My 2nd mission had SA15s as a platoon of 3 which is standard Russian doctrine with AAA protection from Shilka .
The reality would be something else there to with a much higher max altitude so you couldn't just fly above 25k for example.
Question for a mission is how realistic do people want it. If you go full on and the sams take everyone out feedback will be it was to hard, conversely if you just use Shilka and SA15 to easy for some and not challenging.
The constant predicament of the mission designer hey.......

Re: 40 mile convoy
I would research the ‘Motor Rifle Regt’ doctrine as run by the Warsaw Pact in the 80’s a lot of the equipment is still the same and is relevant to DCS. This sets out the structure of the units and scheme of manoeuvre https://irp.fas.org/doddir/army/fm100-2-3.pdf
