A Harrier Hooligan

Post by Flyco »

I do not normally recommend books at random, but my wife recently bought me one that she though I might enjoy. Initially I was not impressed - too much braggadocio and F-ing for my liking was my initial impression. However, I now apologise for those thoughts, after concluded that anyone who had flown Sea Harriers off our tiny carriers, had got air-to ground kills with the RAF Harriers in Afghanistan, had done an exchange tour with the USN on the F-18, and reached the rank of RN Commander was probably entitled to blow off steam.

Seriously, now I am into it I am finding it very enlightening and entertaining - even down to his use of the same technical calls as we use (or should that be the other way around?). I recommend it to anyone who enjoys flying with RAF Air. Real boy’s own stuff, but from a clearly very accomplished fighter pilot.

Oh yes; it is called “Harrier - How to be a Fighter Pilot” and is by Commander Paul Tremelling.
