I have great pleasure in awarding Flight LT Simon "SHAGGY" Jones ( RIO ) of XI Sdqn Flying Vultures ( RAF Coningsbury ) the Distinguished Service order.
He has been Instrumental to the pilots of XI Sqdn in understanding and operating the WCS / Radar in use in the F14 Tomcat, this has allowed the Squadron to perform it's duties in a professional manner, not only with his achievements in the back seat of the F14 but his overall commitment to RAFAIR UK has been inspirational and warmly welcomed within RAFAIR.
As the RIO in a Lead aircraft during recent operations in the Georgia / Ossetia region of Russia his skill , situational awareness and professionalism was outstanding and resulted in heavy losses for the Russian Airforce.

Congratulations, well deserved.
