05/07/22 Faux Fulda Back to the 80's

Post by 0405 Andrew »

05/07/22 FAUX FULDA 22

As nostalgia, inflation and strikes are all the rage and also as I have not got a new mission ready, I suggest we run Faux Fulda from last September.
It was never flown properly as the enemy never spawned on both running's of the mission, however when tested it usually worked, so I'll start the mission early to give us time to restart.

The weather has deteriorated to give that early 80's miserable German plain feel, I'm sure some of RAF Air have sat in a tank, flown above or even sat in a hole in the ground with the snow falling around them waiting for the Russian hordes, thinking I wish they'd just get on with it!.

So this is a tough one and it's meant to be. So you may need to change your planning from last year. And as it is the early 80's cluster bomb's are allowed but no smart weapons.

Planning notes:
--If you have moving targets, please check they will be where you hope them to be as I have set the time back but have tried to adjust their spawn distance to suit.
--The server will start at 19:30 Real UK time and the mission will "run" from 20:00 to give me a chance to check and restart if needed, you may spawn in from 19:40.
--Intel miz has your previous plans, but please delete /edit /add, please also note that some target areas may have been "enhanced"
--Return sqn miz by Saturday 2nd. 5.30AM
--IADS (integreated air defence script) will be running with EW radar.

Please post numbers below. If the Tuesday mission is to continue, participation from squadrons is required.

Hi,

Currently we have six pilots signed up. We will run with two flights, a four ship and a two ship. Also added a few back up aircraft in case more people join.

We overhauled the route quite a bit.

Hi Andrew

We currently have 4 signed up with a further 2 possibles. I’ll have the miz file back to you shortly. We’ll be organised as 2 flights and we have a tanker, just in case. Looking forward to this. In the 80s I was to be found in the tanks on the North German Plain!!

Andrew, I am having some problems deciding what are ‘smart’ weapons. If these include ‘self-guided’ for example that is going to exercise the fighter-boys. What were the AIM versions available in the 80’s.

In the case of the A-10C - I understand that this was not available in the 80s. If you want to limit weapons the best way is to limit the weapons available at airfields.

Can we also assume that the Reds also won’t have ‘smart’ weapons?

With my grouch’s hat on, I find these ‘comedy’ options a pia!

Hi Alan
You're absolutely right, I shouldn't have put that in without being specific.
It's your mission as much as mine go with what you like, I just thought it would be a shame if we all stayed above the cloud and used GPS guided munitions.

That’s Ok for wimps, but we A-10 chaps like to see the whites of their eyes when we fire. So do our TGPs!

It's Saturday the 2nd and I have miz's back from 1F and 3F. I know 97 are joining as they are active on the forums discussing the mission, so they have can have a little more time.

But is anyone else joining the Tuesday mission? It's hard to finish the mission if I don't know what CAP is available.
