Re: Op Ellac, Tuesday 27th July
Paul,
Apologies, but I will not be able to fly on the 27th July, 3rd Aug, and 10th August. Nothing to do with temperatures, but prior commitments, including another week in Lincolnshire.
It looks an interesting mission on the 27th. I guess laser rockets will be the primary weapon, because of the buildings, and low cloud base.
Fly safe 97Sqn. Smoke me a kipper.

Yes, I sort of guessed you'd be flying it, Alan
Geoff, thanks for letting me know, about the dates you can't fly.

With up to 50 targets to take out, and only 3 volunteers to date, it is going to be a long evening.

From the mission background.
This will be a limited war, destruction of civilian property is prohibited. Enemy casualties are to be kept to a minimum to stop an escalation of the conflict.

I had assumed as much. Just Mavs and M282s, each of which require a few miles run in to lock on the laser. Put on a couple of GBUs, but they are not much quicker, and the cloud base is a bit iffy.
